Kate Arthur is an internationally recognized leader in AI literacy, governance, and ethics, and the Founder and CEO of Literacy & AI, where she works to strengthen the human skills and literacy needed to create, communicate, and participate in an AI-driven world. For more than 25 years, she has worked at the intersection of technology, education, and communications, partnering with governments, universities, industry, and civil society across North America, Europe, and Africa.

Kate is the author of Am I Literate? Redefining Literacy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and has worked with UNESCO on its AI competency frameworks for teachers and students. She is a collaborator with the AI in Education research hub at Oxford University, an adviser to the Montreal AI Ethics Institute, and a Scientific Advisor with the Werklund Institute for Social and Emotional Intelligence Canada Ltd.

Her work focuses on ensuring AI strengthens rather than diminishes human intelligence, dignity, agency, and responsibility, and that people have the skills to engage with emerging technologies critically, creatively, and ethically.
