Olli Vallo

EdTech Strategist: UNICEF Global Learning Innovation Hub

Olli Vallo holds an MSc in Education and brings over a decade of experience in the educational technology sector. He combines the perspective of a former teacher with deep expertise in EdTech development, learning sciences, and learner engagement.

Currently, Olli serves as the Head of Partnerships & Growth at Freeed, an innovative educational technology startup based in Helsinki, Finland. In this role, he leads the development of Freeed’s learning materials marketplace, ensuring it delivers pedagogically sound and curriculum-aligned resources. His work is grounded in a strong commitment to quality, with a focus on optimizing processes that empower teachers to create high-quality and engaging learning materials.

Before joining Freeed, Olli worked as a consultant for the Asian Development Bank, where he led a team in creating a quality evaluation framework and toolkit for EdTech solutions. In 2015, he co-founded Education Alliance Finland (EAF) and served as its CEO, developing a globally recognized EdTech quality certification and evaluation process to assess the pedagogical quality of digital learning solutions. EAF’s legacy continues today under EdTech Impact in the UK.

Over the years, Olli has delivered numerous keynote presentations and workshops at international education events and fairs, where he has shared insights on the intersection of education and technology.

At the heart of his work is a passion for understanding how people learn and how digital solutions can enhance learning at scale. Olli strongly believes that in education, the pedagogical quality of learning content and activities is the cornerstone of effective learning experiences.
